Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters will star Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard, though the bulk of the cast is yet to be retained.

"I've always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set", the younger Reitman said at the time.

On Friday, we reported that Sigourney Weaver casually revealed that she, Bill Murray, and Dan Aykroyd would all be returning for Jason Reitman's upcoming Ghostbusters film.

Jason Reitman, the son of Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, spoke at Ghostbusters Fan Fest on Saturday about his upcoming 2020 sequel, which follows the world his father helped create in 1984. "Dan has read it. Ernie's read the script. Bill Murray has read the script". Reitman's film takes place in the same universe as the first two films, but takes place in the present day. "It's going to be insane working with the guys again", she exclaimed. "Bill Murray has read the script". "I want to scare children", he said jokingly. And I don't know who she was or why she popped into my head, but I saw her with a proton pack on her back, and the story began to form in my head...over many years.

The Up in the Air director also talked about how his film will be "a love letter" to the 1984 original (capturing that iconic blend of humor and horror) and discussed the casting choices made so far.

The next instalment - slated for a July 2020 release - won't be associated with the 2016 all-female Paul Feig-directed reboot, which starred Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

Reitman co-wrote the screenplay with Gil Kenan.
