The browser also comes with an array of sound and lighting effects. "Even more so if you are streaming while you play", said Maciej Kocemba, product director of Opera GX.

"Running a game might require a lot of effort from your machine".

Opera GX is being billed as the "world's first gaming browser", according to the company.

Opera GX has in-browser sound effects, composed in collaboration with sound designer Rubén Rincón and the band Berlinist, who recently received a nomination in the BAFTA Games Awards for Gris game original soundtrack. The neon highlights are customizable, and users can witch from the standard red to another highlight color of their choice. In other words, you still get things like the VPN support, which for me has become an essential tool for my everyday browsing.

You can limit both RAM and CPU usage, but the browser will prioritize maintaining a stable stream over sticking to hard limits.

There are, however, several utilities specifically targeting gamers, and one of them is called GX Control. Web browsers are notorious for consuming excessive system resources. In addition, Opera also designed the browser with color options, so you can customize the interface like you would a gaming keyboard or mouse. The initial early access version is designed for people who love games.

Twitch integration is also offered as part of the sidebar, and users can log into their accounts and then get notifications when the streamers they follow come online. Additionally, the speed dial feature allows users to access websites such as Discord, YouTube, and Reddit.

An early access version of Opera GX is already available to download on Windows PCs, with the final version expected to launch later this year.

Finally, Opera GX also includes "GX Corner", a dedicated place for gaming news, a curated list of deals on games, and information about new releases. Additional features will be added based on user feedback, Opera says, so all users are encouraged to tell the company what they think for further enhancements in the next levels.
