In the new set of rules, whenever the Duchess of Cornwall or Duchess of Cambridge attend events without their husbands, they are expected to still curtsy to "Blood princesses" who are further down the line of hierarchy.

At Prince George's Trooping the Colour debut, he wore a light blue shorts suit that was nearly identical to dad Prince William's first Trooping the Colour ensemble.

The Duchess of Sussex made a stunning return to the limelight on Saturday, joining the Queen and other members of the royal family at Trooping the Colour.

Their families, in this case Camilla Parker-Bowles and Kate Middleton, princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, then stand beside them and take up a fair amount of space towards the front of the balcony. The entire royal family, including Prince William and his and Middleton's three children, all step out for the special occasion and reunited at the Buckingham Palace balcony.

The one-year-old's enthusiasm for the flypast was not matched by his big brother, Prince George, 5, who wore a "seen it all before" expression. But there was one moment that didn't go unnoticed, when she was reunited with her nephew, Prince George.

The Duchess of Sussex showed off the flashy addition while making her first public appearance since the birth of her son Archie.

She didn't attend the royal banquet at Buckingham Palace held in honour of US President Donald Trump this week.

Meanwhile, Harry isn't taking paternity leave - he has made several appearances since welcoming son Archie, including a short trip to the Netherlands and Rome - Meghan is adjusting to life as a new mother at home in Frogmore Cottage.

Meghan made one of her first official royal engagements at the Trooping previous year after marrying Prince Harry last May.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor didn't attend the event today.
