A glum atmosphere at Old Trafford was a fitting end to a miserable season for United, with Solskjaer pulling few punches in his comments after a 2-0 home defeat against already relegated Cardiff.

A video posted online towards the end of that ceremony shows Pogba standing on the pitch near some furious fans, who were shouting and verbal abusing the player.

In one of the clips, which you can see here, a man can be heard shouting: "All this fucking Instagram".

They added: "You're fucking shit".

Herrera did not feature against Cardiff as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to field younger players. "Get him out!" while pointing at the Frenchman.

It's fair to say it's not been a great season for United, who have just had to watch their rivals Manchester City win the league.

Manchester United require a serious reboot in the summer after their season ended in concerning fashion.

"The club is in a strong position. they can push on like Burnley did when they went down". "The only positive from today is that the season is over".

"It's not like a threat, but whoever is not ready on July 1 will probably stay here and not travel with us because we only want players we can use over there".

"To reach the leaders it will take a long time".

Seven league defeats, as well as a European exit to Barcelona, left them well short of a top-four finish.

The enigmatic midfielder followed-up a World Cup-winning campaign with France with a poor start to the season. José [Mourinho] won the Europa League last and that is a realistic ambition.

After all, in a season where United only played well for two months or so, Pogba has managed to put in his best performances statistically speaking.

"The big plus is the season's over, we can draw a big line under it and look forward because we know we are too far behind where we want to be - 98 and 97 points is exceptional, we're five or six behind third, fourth, fifth and that's realistically who we need to be challenging next year". We know what we have to work on, the player have got the message quite clearly as well.
