Mental Health Week a chance to 'get loud' about wellness

"Mental health is the only chronic health condition where we are waiting to stage four of the disorder before we're doing anything".

Another step in ending the stigma is implementing reduction tactics and sharing knowledge and support with others. It was emulated after a similar mental health research scholarship launched in 2009 by CMHA Newfoundland and Labrador.

Mental Health First Aid ( is an eight-hour course that teaches how to help someone who may be experiencing a mental health or substance-use challenge. This can transfer into lifelong psychological problems or mental illness.
