There's more seemingly going on, as Lady Mary seems to be contemplating leaving Downton Abbey altogether, although her trusty maid Anna seems to be at least attempting to talk Lady Mary out of whatever she's planning.

The movie takes place in 1927, and times have changed at Downton, as the Crawley family prepares for a visit from the king and queen of England.

The image was released ahead of a trailer for the movie, set to hit cinemas on September 13. But we didn't know it would introduce a possible love interest for Allen Leech's Tom Branson or show us the fiery side of Lesley Nicol's Mrs Patmore, which is always fun to see.

However, thankfully for Downton Abbey fans, a feature film was later confirmed - and now the first trailer for the film is finally here.

Michael Engler directs the Downton Abbey movie from a script by Julian Fellowes.

The men and women of Downton Abbey are about to host their biggest soirée yet - and they've got some very important guests to impress.

Actors Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern and Laura Carmichael are all seen reprising their roles as Crawley family members, and Jim Carter, who played head butler Mr Carson in the series, also returns.

There was much mourning among devotees of the show when it ended and the tag line of the film will be a welcome one for those who miss the show: "We've been expecting you". Downton Abbey opens in theaters on September 20th.
