The 5G phone service - for a handful of celebrities including Yuna Kim, the Olympic medalist in figure skating, Baekhyun from k-pop boy band EXO - was launched Wednesday at 11 p.m. local time (10 a.m. EST).

Additionally, 5G will unite more than 1 million devices per sq km transforming how consumers live, communicate and work by connecting not only smartphones but vehicles, factories, offices and cities as well.

Since many other countries, including the United Kingdom, don't have functioning 5G networks yet, it's no surprise the Galaxy S10 5G is only launching in one region, but as the 5G connectivity grows we'll likely see the handset available in other places.

But no matter which side you're on, there isn't anyone who isn't down with tech for free...so get your hands on the hottest phone on the market now for nothing by winning one in the Samsung Galaxy S10 Giveaway. No information about pricing options emerged though, so we're still in the dark on that one.

According to a report from Bloomberg, the phone will be available to pre-order in the U.S. from April 18, with a tentative release date of May 16 - if that's correct, it'll actually launch after the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Verizon will open Samsung Galaxy S10 5G pre-orders on April 18, but the smartphone will hit shelves one month later, on May 16. It has data transmission speeds 20 times faster than the current 4G long-term evolution (LTE) wireless technology.

The new 5G technology enables dramatically faster download speeds with nearly no delay in watching videos or loading pictures.

Three mobile carriers - SK Telecom Co, KT Corp and LG Uplus Corp - started official registration of Samsung's smartphone, Yonhap news agency reported.

It makes flawless sense for the Galaxy S10 5G to be priced well over $1,000, especially that it will be one of the few 5G smartphones available for purchase in the United States.

Samsung's first 5G phone will launch in Korea on Friday, with prices starting at around $1,231 for the 256GB version, but you won't have to wait too long to get one in the USA, as the Verizon version is rumored to launch in mid-May.
