Should Deeney receive a standard three-match ban he would return in time to face Manchester City in May's showpiece at Wembley, but he risked a further punishment as he left the field.

Gracia gave his players three days off following their semi-final exertions but he has no intention of rotating his squad for Premier League duty with seventh spot still up for grabs.

"It's something all of us have to refuse to avoid", said Gracia. We spoke about football here, English football and their experience because they were here six months before us.

"I can't understand how these things are happening, but I can't have control over these things".

"Everyone knows me and Arsenal don't get on too well", he said.

"I try to be polite and respectful, but that's all we can do".

Arsenal leapfrogged Chelsea for fourth place in the Premier League table with a 1-0 victory at 10-man Watford on Monday night.

Arsenal are a point behind having played the same number of games.

Some may question what is the point about writing about a player rumoured to be wanted by Arsenal but very unlikely to sign for us but we can not ignore this particular rumour, not when it involves a Tottenham player.

One of the latest pieces of transfer gossip doing the rounds is the possibility that we may be signing Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld but while it is, of course, feasible it simply is not going to happen in my opinion.

Soon after, Watford skipper Troy Deeney was shown a straight red card, compounding their misery and giving them a mountain to climb all game.

"It's not fair to speak about the game only speaking about the result", Gracia added.

"We know away we have some difficulties".

Unai Emery's plans this season has been seriously hampered by a series of defensive injuries and the manager is planning to bring in some reinforcements during the summer.
