Performance of the icon will be "both historical and hysterical", commented promoters Live Nation Israel.

With the news that Madonna is set to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest, we look at how and when to watch the event.

The Material Girl and the contest's producers also have already butted heads apparently because the new song she plans to debut contains political messages, Haaretz reported.

"No final decisions have been made, or agreements signed", said the EBU in a statement to the BBC.

In any case, Eurovision 2019 has just officially acquired an extra element of excitement and memorability due to Madonna's confirmation.

PACBI took it to Twitter to send the 60-year-old singer, who is expected to perform at the song contest in Tel Aviv, a message telling her performance and star-power will help cover up Israel's abuses against the Palestinians.

This would be Madonna's fourth performance in Israel.

Israel is hosting this year's song contest after singer Netta Barzilai won last year in Portugal with Toy. The champion of Madonna appearing at Eurovision has been Tel Aviv-based billionaire businessman Sylvan Adams, who will also be footing the bill.

The pop superstar will hit the stage for two songs during the musical spectacular, during which European nations and Australia compete for best song.

The artist has a long relationship with Israel, and propelled her MDNA visit in Tel Aviv in 2012.

The annual competition, which sees eclectic acts from across over 56 member countries battle against each other for the grand prize and the chance to host the ceremony in their own country.
