Lil Nas X then brings in his modern-trap sound, whilst maintaining the signature country drawl.

Lil Nas X hinted that he is working on new music with Beyonce.

Both Lil Nas X and Young Thug have teased the collaboration on their social media accounts with snippets as well as the use of emojis, though at the moment it's unknown if Billy Ray Cyrus will be included in this particular remix.

While no country radio stations officially added "Old Town Road" to their music rotation, Billboard reports that it earned 140 plays on 35 reporting stations - an audience of one million people.

"Old Town Road" dethrones Ariana Grande's "7 rings", which falls to #3 this week.

"Upon further review, it was determined that "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X does not now merit inclusion on Billboard's country charts", Billboard said in a statement to Rolling Stone last week. The middle verse and chorus stayed the same.

According to Billboard, the song has jumped from No. 15 to No. 1 on the Billboard 100 chart.

Billy Ray Cyrus hopped on the remix and delivered what can only be described as the "sauciest" country feature ever. The vocal performances, even those by Lil Nas X, are far closer to the sort you would hear in a country song than a rap one.

Right now, many on Twitter are going insane for the song and the hype is not looking like it is going to die down anytime soon. Either Billboard is afraid of musical experimentation that doesn't fit into easy categorization, or they're afraid of artists that don't fit - Lil Nas X, a young black man, looks pretty different from every other artist topping the country charts right now.
