MSK Prasad also confirmed that Kedar Jadhav could also bat in the important middle-order position if the need arises with KL Rahul also in the wings.

Virat Kohli (capt), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Vijay Shankar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami.

Virat Kohli will lead the Indian ODI squad in its bid to recapture the World Cup. The notable names who are missing are Ambati Rayudu and Wicket Keeper Rishabh Pant.

Pakistan were recently clean-swept 5-0 by Australia in the United Arab Emirates, and questions were raised over the team s preparedness for the upcoming World Cup.

Amidst the speculations for the No. 4 spot, Ambati Rayudu - who is not being in good form - is missing out of the team.

The second wicketkeeper was the sole bone of contention for the marquee event starting in England and Wales on May 30 and the 33-year-old Karthik's experience of 91 ODIs gave him the edge over the 21-year-old Pant, according to the five-member selection panel headed by MSK Prasad. Vijay Shankar also found himself in the squad and will most certainly occupy the hyped No. 4 slot. That is the reason that went in favour of Dinesh Karthik.

"We are more or less sorted", Kohli said. We are looking at him at no. 4 to begin with.

Rahul' selection could also mean bad news for Karthik and Pant. They will bowl in the nets and also stay as a standby should there be an injury. Shikhar Dhawan will open the innings with Rohit while Ravindra Jadeja can come into the equation during the latter stages of the tournament.

It is expected that both the young fast bowlers will be travelling with the team to England as back-up, who could be drafted in if anyone from the pace troika of Bumrah, Shami and Bhuvneshwar get injured.
