The first night of the Coachella Valley Music & Art Festival ended in chaos after a mobile shower unit went up in flames early Saturday morning. Her next Coachella headliner will be on the festival's second weekend on 21 April.

Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after 2 a.m.

The Riverside County Fire Department sent four engines to the scene.

Within half an hour, the blaze was "contained", the department said.

According to effect of Sound, the fire was a result of one of the mobile showers experiencing "mechanical failure of a heating unit".

Two trailers were involved in the fire, one damaged and another destroyed.

Witnesses report hearing explosions before the fire broke out, with concert-goers fleeing the area in their towels as security cleared the area.

Weekend one of Coachella is heating up... quite literally. The live feed will resume Saturday at 4:15 p.m. with music from Weezer, Billie Eilish, Tame Impala, Bassnectar and others.
