The final trailer has now been released.

With all of the high-profile comic book movies soaring into theaters in 2019, one could be forgiven for forgetting that Dark Phoenix (what will probably be Fox's final X-Men film) is still on the way.

Dark Phoenix sees the return of all the main characters from the past few X-Men movies, including Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Munn, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smit-Mcphee.

I guess if you've got nothing to lose and no future to plan for, you can go out with a bang, so Dark Phoenix could potentially very violent and not very forgiving for our heroes. Jessica Chastain enters the franchise as a new alien villain, but so far this movie seems unworthy of her talents.

Though it doesn't offer a ton of additional information by way of the plot - it hits numerous same narrative beats as past trailers have, taking us through the timeline of Jean Grey's (Sophie Turner) metamorphosis into her sinister alter-ego the Dark Phoenix - but it does feature some super-tasty new footage that should boost hype for the film.

Picking up in 1992, almost a decade after the events of that film, its final trailer finds Jean earning her mutant stripes after a rescue mission in deep space goes horribly wrong, resulting in her being engulfed by a powerful explosion that decimates her ship. Even Magneto, who makes the mistake of issuing a threat in her direction, finds himself bested by her incredible power. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together.
