Britney Spears Checks Herself Into a Mental Health Facility for Self-Care

In 2007, after a long run of freaky public incidents involving her now ex Kevin Federline and sons, Sean Preston, 13, and Jayden James, 12, (including shaving her head and driving with Sean on her lap). According to the outlet, Spears is distraught over her dad Jamie's health - he has been very sick since his colon spontaneously ruptured a few months ago.

Singer and songwriter Britney Spears is taking a little "me time".

Spears previously postponed her Las Vegas residency "Britney: Domination" to care for her father during his recovery.


Multiple people in the singer's life, including her ex-husband Kevin Federline and younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, shared their support for Britney's decision on social media.

A source close to the singer said Jamie Spears was not doing well after a second surgery three weeks ago, and that Britney was finding his prolonged illness hard to deal with.

"She has recently been showing signs of being under a lot of strain", they continued. "She just wants to take time to focus on herself", the source told Reuters. "She says that her father saved her life, which he did", the source explains.


As news of the story broke, Spears took to Instagram to share her initial message of inspiration, she captioned, "We all need to take time for a little 'me time.'" It was her first post in almost three months. No matter how many days you've spent wishing things were different, no matter how hopeless and depressed you feel, I promise you won't feel this way forever.

On Jan. 5, a spokesperson for Britney said that she has made a decision to cancel her entire upcoming "Britney: Domination" residency in Las Vegas to care for her ailing dad. "After Britney is done at the wellness center, her next move really depends on Jamie and how he's doing, so she'll assess that when the time comes".

'As a mom, she knows she has to get better, ' the insider added. Below is just a taste of the positivity across Twitter as news of Britney's mental health struggle went public. "Thank you, and love you all... always", she tweeted at the time.
