Isco and Gareth Bale celebrated their recalls to the starting line-up with second-half goals, while Keylor Navas and Marcelo returned from exile to impress.

Along with Isco and defender Marcelo, the Costa Rican Navas was one of the main beneficiaries of Zidane's return 10 months after the Frenchman had walked out on the club having won an unprecedented three consecutive Champions League crowns.

It is clear Zidane is giving those who have been out of the team a chance to prove themselves and bring back the good times.

Marcelo comes in ahead of Sergio Reguilon, who did well under Solari.

Solskjaer is quoted as saying by Sky Sports: "I can't really comment on Gareth Bale or specific names because they're property of other clubs".

"Isco and Marcelo are both ready to play, they want to play and we will see them play", he said.

Thibaut Courtois, who joined Madrid from Chelsea last summer but has struggled for form in recent games, has also been dropped, with Keylor Navas starting between the sticks for Saturday's game against Celta Vigo.

"There's so many factors you need to think about when you sign players".

Zidane lost faith in Bale last season, with the pair's relationship growing increasingly strained before Zidane announced his departure.

The performances of Bale, Isco and Marcelo in particular have left him with plenty to ponder, and Zidane can only hope that vigour will continue after the worldwide break.
