Xiaomi announces the Black Shark 2 gaming phone

Some of the other key highlights of the Black Shark 2 include a 4000mAh battery with 27W fast charging, an RGB illuminated logo on the back, X-shaped antenna design, dual-frequency Global Positioning System, and stereo audio with AI noise reduction. However, some reports also suggest that the Black Shark 2 might have up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage.

As a successor to last year's Black Shark, the Black Shark 2 comes with a list of new technologies.

Black Shark 2, the new gaming-centric smartphone by Xiaomi-backed Black Shark, has been formally launched in China.

The Black Shark 2 also packs a new touch algorithm that is created to reduce the touch response time on the display to as low as 43.5 milliseconds.


Plus, its 6.39-inch OLED screen has a Samsung-made in-display fingerprint sensor. The Black Shark 2's graphics are powered by the Adreno 640 GPU. The screen of the Black Shark 2 is also enhanced to reduce screen flickering at low brightness level. The Black Shark 2 comes packed with a big 4000 mAh battery - also found inside the Redmi Note 7 series - with 27W fast charging support. The Black Shark 2 also comes with lower touch latency to 43.5ms. The renders reveal that Black Shark might be taking the traditional route of a notchless design. "Black Shark is a gaming company, composed of passionate gamers". It comes in four configurations, starting with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and up to the aforementioned 12GB RAM, 256GB model.

The base model Black Shark costs CNY 3,200 (about $477) and the upgraded variant is CNY 4,200 ($625). Rumours and leaks suggest that the Black Shark 2 may be the first gaming smartphone from Xiaomi to launch in India. The smartphone comes in two colors - Shadow Black, and Frozen Silver. In China, Black Shark is a sub-brand of Xiaomi introduced to take on gaming phones from other brands.
