It appears as though there was a lot more to that story because, on today's show, Wendy burst into tears and revealed that she's living in a sober house. She has been open about her struggles with drug addiction in the past, telling her audience that she's abused cocaine and crack cocaine in the past. Williams prefaced her reveal by talking about the Hunter Foundation, a nonprofit she started with her husband, Kevin Hunter, to help those struggling with addiction. "Nobody knew because I look so glamorous out here", she said. "Anybody who's been married for five minutes or 500 years, you know marriages have ebbs and flows".

The talk show host tearfully admitted to "a struggle with cocaine" in her past for which she said she had never previously sought treatment.

"After I go to the Pilates, I go to several meetings all around town in the tristate area", Williams said. "They don't know I'm Wendy". I told you, two hours a day or like to take care of my body. It's the brothers and sisters caught up in the struggle and it's been really interesting this ride. She revealed she is living in a sober house and this is why.

She continued, "Only Kevin [Hunter, Sr., her husband] and Kevin [Jr., her son] know about this".

She also must adhere to the facility's rules, which requires all residents to return to their rooms with lights out by 10 p.m.

Williams' announcement came just weeks after she returned to her talk show, after taking an extended break in early 2019 to manage complications from Graves' disease and a shoulder fracture. "I am driven by my 24 hour sober coach back to a home that I live in with a bunch of smelly boys who have become my family", she added.

The talk show host's inner circle was largely unaware about her living situation.

The Instagram page for The Wendy Williams show posted videos of Williams opening up about her struggle with addiction with the caption, "If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction, help is available". The news is especially surprising since she had been showing up to her program almost every scheduled day (minus the recent hiatus). "Second of all, I had the money and the access and time to be able to do it", Williams said back in 2014.
