"We're aware that some people are now having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps", a Facebook spokesperson told CNET.

According to The Verge, Messenger couldn't load at all on the desktop, but the mobile app was working. It also said the outage is not related to a DDoS attack. We can confirm that Facebook's Workplace and Work Chat apps are also affected by this outage.

It further continued that Facebook is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

The outages appeared to be concentrated in the Americas and Europe.

The issues have been rumored to be for "scheduled maintenance", a message which some users say they saw at the beginning of the blackout.

Some Instagram users can see their feed, but not others, and everyone is having trouble posting anything.

On Twitter, a number of users posted memes and jokes about the outage.

According to the website Down Detector, the most common problems being reported are total blackout and log in issues.

WhatsApp, on the other hand, was working fine.

Some users reported that they were still able to access their accounts and newsfeed but could not post status updates or photos.

So of course, people are taking to Twitter for memes and mocking.

Many of us spend the day alleviating our boredom by scrolling through our social networks.
