Bayern Munich warmed up for Liverpool with a "perfect day" by knocking Borussia Dortmund from the top of the Bundesliga for the first time since September with a 6-0 thrashing of Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Dortmund slipped to the second place, as their 3-1 win over Stuttgart was not enough to defend the top spot.

Lewandowski's record-breaking exploits take the headlines but a goal and an assist in the space of three first-half minutes saw Gnabry play a huge part in setting up Bayern's latest win. He will rarely have scored easier goals either as Serge Gnabry, who had given Bayern the lead, squared the ball for Lewandowski to slot home into an open goal.

On Friday: Serie A: Juventus 4 (Kean 11, 39, Can 67-pen, Matuidi 71) bt Udinese 1 (Lasagna 84).

Bayern Munich talisman Robert Lewandowski has hinted that he could be happy to stay with the Bundesliga champions until the end of his career.

Bayern's James reacts during the German Bundesliga soccer match between FC Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg in Munich, Germany, Saturday, March 9, 2019. The Poland worldwide added a late second to take his Bundesliga tally to 197 goals.

Attention, for head coach Niko Kovac, is now firmly on Europe: "We could have scored even more goals".

Lewandowski's double meant that he has now got 197 goals in the Bundesliga and takes over as all-time foreign scorer from Werder Bremen's Claudio Pizarro, on 195.

"Everything is going very well here, I'm feeling well and I'm satisfied, the communication between the club is good", Lewandowski told Welt am Sonntag.

Paco Alcacer and Christian Pulisic scored late goals for Dortmund, who won for only the second time in nine games in all competitions.

Now that they are no longer top, Borussia Dortmund can go into games without that pressure of being favorites and rediscover the form that earned them so many plaudits this season.
