Needless to say, the Genie became a meme upon arrival, swarming the Internet like the sizzling magma within the Cave of Wonders.

Disney unveiled the latest trailer for its live action Aladdin remake during Sunday night's Grammy Awards, revealing for the first time Will Smith as the azure-skinned djinn. Mena Massoud stars as the street-rat-with-a-heart-of-gold Aladdin, with Naomi Scott as the lovely and determined Princess Jasmine. With Smith's Genie crashing the party at the very end. After quite some time of bubbling anticipation, the studio has released a new teaser to preview the film, which stars Will Smith as the famous genie.

"Robin Williams infused the character with a timeless version of himself".

"I told y'all I was gon' be Blue", Will Smith wrote in a caption attached to the teaser on his Instagram.

Twitter was quick to poke fun at Smith, with one user comparing the look to Paul Giamatti in the movie "Big Fat Liar".

The minute-long spot offers brief glimpses at Aladdin (Mena Massoud), Jasmine (Naomi Scott), Jafar (Marwan Kenzari) and the other denizens of Agrabah in the Guy Ritchie-helmed musical, due out May 24. "You really don't know who I am?" asks Genie. "There hasn't been a lot of that hip-hop flavor in Disney history", Smith added.
