WhatsApp for iOS adds Screen Lock feature

The latest update to WhatsApp for iOS brings support for locking and unlocking the application through Face ID and Touch ID.

According to the report by WABetaInfo, users can also set the time duration before which the app locks down WhatsApp. Once Screen Lock is enabled, every time you open WhatsApp, the app will require Face ID or Touch ID to unlock, otherwise, you won't be able to use.

You can activate them by going into Settings, Account, Privacy and toggling the options found in Screen Lock.

Most notably, the screen lock feature does not work for individual chats, meaning once WhatsApp has been accessed, so can all of the content housed within it. The feature is available for WhatsApp iOS version 2.19.20 and users can update their app to use it.

If you were anxious about others accessing your WhatsApp activity, especially on devices that you might share with children or friends, then all you have to do to secure those chats is to update the WhatsApp to the newest version. The feature is yet to roll out for Android users. Your WhatsApp notifications are still visible, and you can do quick replies within iOS without authentication.
