His dramatic intervention comes amid continued of a rift between Meghan, who is seven months pregnant, and her father, Thomas Markle Sr.

Clooney, 57, said history was repeating itself in the case of Meghan and Diana, warning "we've seen how that ends". (AAP) Harry and Meghan are expecting their first baby this year.

"I believe she cried more to do with the press intrusion than anything else in her life".

Addressing the speculation, Clooney said, "Oh yes, I'll be godfather of the royals apparently", before clarifying his sarcasm and telling reporters, "No!"

Former Suits actress Meghan, 37, is estranged from her father following a string of high-profile incidents since she became engaged to Harry.

And by the time he or she starts talking, it's likely the sweet bundle of joy will call the future King "Grandpa Wales", just like George, Charlotte and soon, Louis.

The actor, who is a friend of the British royal and her husband Prince Harry and attended their royal wedding with his wife Amal last May (18), gave the warning after United Kingdom tabloid the Mail on Sunday published a letter Meghan reportedly wrote to her estranged father, Thomas Markle.

Meghan laughed as a relative of one of the children showed her a photo on her phone, zooming in on the image to get a closer look. "We've been told that numerous times by people that know that that was the case".

Thomas Markle Snr says the letter was sent by his daughter.

They also expressed their concerns for Meghan and her unborn baby.

As Mr Markle threatens to release more content of the five page letter, The Daily Telegraph have reported that palace aides are taking legal advice before Meghan decides whether she wants to take formal action.

She later added: "He did try to contact her she was the one who ignored him and all of us".

Meghan also accuses her father of snubbing her and Prince Harry's offers to help when he pulled out of attending their wedding following two heart attacks and accuses him of being ungrateful for money she has given him.

In an effort to reach out to the public and emphasise the need to spread kindness instead of hate, Sarah Ferguson has written an open letter for Hello!
