Raptors’ Marc Gasol gets standing ovation in first home game in Toronto

VanVleet will wear a splint for three weeks, the team said in a statement on Monday before its home game against the Brooklyn Nets.

The NBA's trade deadline might have passed, but the off-court action doesn't seem to be slowing down at all for the Toronto Raptors.

In 2012, Lin was a last alternative for an injury-hit NY lineup but he came off the bench and sparked the Knicks to seven consecutive wins with clutch shooting and timely passes, a whirlwind effort that became known to Knicks fans as "Lin-sanity".

During pregame media availability, Gasol expressed his excitement about the chance to win a championship with the Raptors.

On the season, Gasol is averaging 15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.1 steals, while shooting 34.4 percent from three-point range (on 4.2 attempts per game).

They are planning to sign veteran guard Jeremy Lin after he completes his buyout negotiations with the Atlanta Hawks. "So that makes things a lot easier because at the end of the day that's the answer that you're going to get".

"Jose was one of the first guys to reach out (and tell me) how much I'm going to love the organization and the city and he was very excited", Gasol told reporters on Saturday.

"We were playing in NY and you could already feel that energy", Gasol said.

Marc Gasol made his Toronto Raptors debut on Saturday night after spending his entire career with the Memphis Grizzlies. But the Grizzlies advanced past the first round of the post-season just three times in the past decade, and didn't make the playoffs at all a year ago. Gasol was also named Defensive Player of the Year in 2013.

While Gasol, who scored his first basket at 10:27 in the second quarter, came off the bench Monday, that spot isn't set in stone in Nurse's fluid rotation.
