When I see Israel institute laws that recognize it as a Jewish state and do not recognize the other religions living in the country, and we still hold it up as a democracy in the Middle East, I nearly chuckle.

However, Omar has defended her views on Israel, saying she finds it "exciting" that her views are sparking debate.

Rep. Omar retweeted his post and added the line: "It's all about the Benjamins baby". Minnesota Republican Party Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan called on Minnesota Democrats, including Sen. And if she'll listen, we should keep the door open.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee does not contribute to politicians, although its donors give money to political campaigns, in the same way that an array of activists backing distinct interests across the political spectrum have for decades donated to campaigns.

Others have defended Omar and Tlaib, contending their positions are being "twisted" into anti-Semitism when, in fact, their condemnation is confined to the Israeli government, not Jews generally.

In response, Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin slammed Tlaib and Omar's open support for the BDS movement, urging his colleagues to "to reject the anti-Israel and anti-Semitic hatred that we are starting to see infiltrating American politics and even the halls of Congress".

Nadler said in his statement Monday: "While of course our nation's leaders are free to debate the relative influence of a particular organization on our country's policy-making process, or the factors that make our system of governance imperfect, there is an expectation of leaders-particularly those with a demonstrated commitment to the cause of justice and equality-that they would be extremely careful not to tread into the waters of anti-Semitism or any other form of prejudice or hate".

"Chelsea - I would be happy to talk".

He went on to emphasize in a further tweet that now she will have no influence in her party on the issue, but that it could have been different "Had she come to DC, shown sympathy and empathy for Israelis and Palestinians, learned to assign responsibility in appropriate measure to both sides, considered the totality of United States interests in the region, maybe taken a trip to learn". "The Congresswoman's statements do not live up to that do not live up to that cherished ideal", Rose said. And I believe we can do that without criticizing people for their faith.
