However, some of the other finalists that the decision of Anthony Edwards came down to today included Kentucky and the Florida State Seminoles. Tom Crean is a great dude, and I believe in him coaching me and developing me.

Edwards is excited to be coached by Tom Crean, who has been tied to some of the NBA's biggest stars. He says his decision was influenced by "everybody showing love" on his unofficial visit at a Georgia game.

"The reason I picked the University of Georgia is because it's my home school", Edwards told ESPN's Paul Biancardi. He took official visits to both Georgia and Kentucky, and he went to Athens unofficially at least once since his December official visit.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, Georgia's 2019 recruiting class ranks No. 12 in the nation with Anthony Edwards now in the mix.

Originally a member of the 2020 recruiting class, Anthony Edwards recently chose to join the 2019 grouping instead.

He trails only Memphis center James Wiseman on the recruiting chart, but is still the top-rated shooting guard and the No. 1 overall prospect from the state of Georgia.

Crean, in his first season coaching the Bulldogs, coached Wade at Marquette and Oladipo at Indiana.

A few of the notable programs that weren't included in the finalists for Edwards were the Florida Gators, Kansas Jayhawks, Michigan State Spartans, Memphis Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, Virginia Cavaliers, and UNC Tar Heels.

Edwards reclassified in November from the class of 2020 ahead of the season at Atlanta's Holy Spirit Academy, where he is averaging 26.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals a game and also shooting 38 percent from 3-point range. In addition to Edwards, the Bulldogs have two four-star commitments in Jaykwon Walton and Toumani Camara.
