Verstappen, who shared the victories with Australian Daniel Ricciardo last season, has a new teammate for 2019 in Frenchman Pierre Gasly.

Red Bull's RB15 is the successor to a RB14 auto which finished last season battling for victories, with Verstappen, who won twice in 2018, widely tipped to challenge multiple champions Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.

Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen is excited to start another season with the Austrian team, but the 21-year-old did caution that it might take some time for Red Bull and new engine partner Honda to hit their stride.

For the new RB15, the team appeared to have ditched the famous Red Bull logo that has featured on every one of their cars since they took over Jaguar ahead of the 2005 campaign.

"We are expecting a lot from Honda and are positive, but it will not be ideal from race one".

Honda struggled in partnership with McLaren but after a year of progress with Toro Rosso last season the Japanese manufacturer will supply two teams this year for the first time since its return to Formula 1.

"At the moment I am of course very optimistic, but also realistic".

Verstappen will get the first proper taste of his new Red Bull during next week's first pre-season test at Barcelona's Circuit de Catlunya. We've obviously been able to strike at venues that have suited the characteristics of our vehicle, winning four races last year - should have been five - and three races the year before. For sure there will be moments where, as a team, we make mistakes or it's not going as we want it to, but I think what is very important is that the team and Honda, we are pushing really hard to improve the development.

Both drivers are at Silverstone today for the first run of the new auto. While they will need to give Honda some time before they can realise their true potential, the data has already been very promising.
