A former boyfriend of Valerie Reyes, the NY woman found dead inside of a suitcase discovered off the side of a road in CT, was arrested in connection to her death.

Cops arrested Javier de Silva, of Queens, on Monday night, a week after the grisly murder of 24-year-old Valerie Reyes. Then on February 5, a red suitcase in the Town of Greenwich was found by a public works employee who, on unzipping the suitcase, discovered the body of Reyes inside.

New York State Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever's responsible for the death of Valerie Reyes.

"We are confident that the pursuit of justice for Valerie will be successful and we continue to work with the family to provide closure to this tragedy, " Berry said in a written statement.

'The arrested individual is also believed to be involved in the death of Valerie. "I was praying her family would have her back", said Brenda DeGiacomo.

The investigation reportedly included watching more than 100 hours of surveillance video, social media analysis, and witness interviews. "I'm paranoid, mummy. I'm getting anxiety attacks.' She was having a hard time talking".

Capt. Robert Berry says investigators "zeroed in" on DeSilva after he allegedly used Reyes' ATM card to withdraw cash multiple times after her death.

De Silva was arrested in NY and the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan will reportedly handle the prosecution of the crime.

She asked about her daughter's ex-boyfriend but still Reyes told her mother "no, it wasn't him".

Reyes, who worked at a Barnes & Noble in Eastchester, N.Y., planned to train to become a tattoo artist and liked to sing.

"We are, of course, devastated for my daughter's death, but I'm just beyond grateful that they found her murderer", her mother told reporters. "And she said, 'No, '" Sanchez said, according to the Journal News.

"I asked her, 'Why do you feel this way?"

Several items were missing from Reyes' apartment, police said.

Autopsy results from the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are still pending.

A wake for Reyes is scheduled for this afternoon and evening at the Lloyd Maxie and Sons Funeral Home in New Rochelle. "She didn't mention no one specific", Sanchez said.
