Delon Wright, C.J. Miles getting traded to Memphis for Marc Gasol

Gasol spent his teenage years in Memphis after his brother, Pau, was traded to the club in 2001 and blossomed into a high school basketball star before his 11-year run with the organization.

A person familiar with the terms tells The Associated Press that the Toronto Raptors have acquired Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies for a package including centre Jonas Valanciunas.

The Toronto Raptors will acquire Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies, according to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Memphis discussed trades with multiple teams, but chose to keep its franchise point guard.

Wright, who was selected 20th overall by the Raptors in the 2015 draft, is averaging 6.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game this year.

The 34-year-old center leaves the Grizzlies as the all-time leader in points, blocks, and minutes played. The 7-foot big man had surgery for a dislocated thumb December 12, and hasn't played in a contest since his procedure.

Gasol is slated to make $24.1 million U.S. this season and has a player option for $25.6 million next season. Valanciunas is a solid player, but he doesn't make much sense for the Grizzlies long term, and neither does Miles. InsideHoops.com exclusively spoke with three-time NBA All-Defensive team member Serge Ibaka and one-time NBA All-Defensive team member Danny Green about adding Gasol after the Raptors defeated the Atlanta Hawks 119-101 at State Farm Arena last night. Whether he'll opt into that player option is anyone's guess, and it probably won't become clear until the after the playoffs.
