Anthony Davis suffers shoulder injury in last game before all-star break

The Pelicans led by three at halftime when Davis was ruled out for the rest of the game.

The next game that Davis is scheduled to play in is the All-Star game on Sunday, so it will be interesting to see if he will be able to participate.

Russell Westbrook will pass Gary Payton to become the all-time Thunder/SuperSonics leading scorer Thursday night against the New Orleans Pelicans once he records five points.

Another reporter asked a follow-up question to Gentry about if it bothered him that Davis left.

Davis was in the starting lineup against the Thunder and played 16 minutes during the first half.

In truth, if you were sitting there thinking Davis took the opportunity to leave so he could get an early start to his All-Star weekend you wouldn't be alone.

"I'm happy for all of them", Gentry said.

"I'm gonna talk about the guys that play", Gentry said. "I just thought they did a great job". We found a way to win the game.

Gentry then stormed off, ending his postgame interview session in uncharacteristically abrupt fashion. He has averaged 28.5 points and 13.1 rebounds this season. New Orleans rebounded and held on from there. "Honestly, the stuff that's going on around here, I don't really know much about, but they won tonight and that's all the matters". Not a lot of guys do.

Davis appeared to suffer the injury on the last play of the second quarter.

The Thunder pulled as close as 121-118 with 2:52 left, when George hit a straight-on 3, hollering and pounding his chest after the shot went down. He was coming off a three-point, six-rebound performance in a home blowout loss to the Orlando Magic.

Patrick Patterson has come on since the beginning of 2019, shooting 46.9 percent from 3-point range on more than two attempts per game, but Morris would provide a more versatile scoring option with the ability to guard multiple positions. Westbrook was 4 of 12 from deep.

The Pelicans led for most of the game and by as many as 17 on Randle's free throws with five minutes left in the third quarter. He returned in the second quarter and finished with 15 points.

The electric point guard now has 18,247 career points in his 11th season - all with the Thunder.
