Wolves thump Liverpool in FA Cup

With Liverpool now in the midst of a serious Premier League title challenge, it wasn't a surprise to see Klopp named a youthful side.

The Reds suffered a second straight defeat as they lost 2-1 at Wolves in the cup on Monday.

Klopp named a much-changed line-up to take on Wolves and handed 16-year old Ki-Jana Hoever his debut after Dejan Lovren picked up a hamstring injury early in the first half.

Klopp's critics were out in force following the 2-1 defeat at Wolves, with a lot of rival fans clearly very anxious this fine manager will bring the glory days back to Liverpool as he has built a wonderful team over the last three years.

"Two or three of that line up won't be at the club come the start of pre-season", Aldridge wrote in his column for the Liverpool Echo.

I have no problem with the LFC selection from JK & would rather we had won but, we have the best chance we've had in years of winning the PL & it may be yrs before we're in this position again.

"Klopp gave an opportunity to some senior pros who have been waiting for their chance but they wasted it".

An adolescent he may well be, but the youngster duly went on to impress at the back for Liverpool with a number of smart plays that earned a 7/10 ESPN match rating and praise from Jurgen Klopp despite an auxiliary side eventually falling to a defeat at Molineux. "We have to make sure we bounce back and look at where we can get better", he said. They played within themselves and that's not good enough.

"James Milner has been nearly faultless this season but he made a bad mistake and got punished with their opening goal". Then Neves, with the wind in his back, hit a nice little shot.

"You certainly couldn't attach any blame to the young lads".

Okay, they came up short in a very tight game against Manchester City last Thursday, but it was the Liverpool reserve team that lost at Wolves and it should not affect the mood ahead of what is now a massive game at Brighton on Saturday.
