Winter Storm will bring heavy snow to Central Indiana this weekend

Power outages have been reported due to the heavy nature of the snow.

Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories are in effect for snow, sleet and freezing rain for this weekend.


More than 40 million people are now under winter storm alerts, according to meteorologist Kelly Cass Winter. Most of the rest of the state remains under a Winter Weather Advisory.

Snowfall of 2-3 inches in most mountain areas with pockets getting over 3 inches.


The storm coming through the area is a two-part storm system! Those in the area should expect heavier amounts Saturday and overnight. Some bands of snow could be moderate at times. Eventually, the snow will come to an end for good Saturday evening around 8 p.m.

Road conditions continue to be an issue for nearly all of IL, with IDOT reporting Interstates in our area as covered with snow or ice. "Elsewhere, accumulating snow is still likely", a Twitter account for NWS DC/Baltimore said.


As of 3:30 p.m. ET Friday, almost 2,000 flights into or out of the US have seen delays and about 260 were canceled, according to flight tracking site FlightAware.
