As is the case for the Polestar 1, the second model will be available for puchase in a traditional manner, but also in a monthly subscription-scheme covering rental, service and insurance.

The teaser image doesn't reveal much other than a heavily raked fastback shape. The brand announced its style to be four-door "fastback"-like, and derived from the 40.2-concept auto, but as of yet did not show more than the picture you see above this article". The Polestar 2 will have a top speed in excess of 155 MPH and will be able to travel upwards of 310 miles on a single charge.

Though details surrounding the auto are limited for now, it is clear that the Polestar 2 will shun a hybrid powertrain in favour of an all-electric setup. At the time, the company had got a new team on board to assist the brand in developing electrified high-performance cars.

The Polestar 2 will go into production in early 2020. The first of them - christened the Polestar 1, was unveiled in October 2017.

Tesla bumps up the range of its Mid Range Model 3, slightly and announces it will start delivering Model 3s to China in March. The Swedish vehicle maker is expected to officially unveil the Polestar 2 at the Geneva Motor Show in March with the global launch to follow towards the end of 2019. The automaker went on to say the vehicle will be available through a subscription or traditional "cash sales".

Given the importance of connectivity in vehicles, the Polestar 2 will debut a new infotainment system that is based on Google's Android operating system, which also includes an in-car version of Google Assistant.
