Nokia 8.1 Plus with pinhole selfie camera revealed in crisp renders

The renders, along with an accompanying 360-degree video, show a smartphone with minimal bezels and a tiny hole-punch cutout at the top left of its display which holds a selfie camera. It might be the Nokia 8.1 Plus, though the Nokia 9 PureView getting a new design treatment would have been a better choice.

The renders have been provided by 91Mobiles in collaboration with OnLeaks. So, the fingerprint sensor will not be in-display. This display type is set to become a trend this year as phone manufacturers look for ways to remove the notch.

Other new features of Android 9 Pie which will benefit Nokia 8 Sirocco users include App Actions and Digital Wellbeing, brand-new features exclusive to Android One devices and Google Pixel phones.

Despite the “Plus” designation, the phone is essentially the same size as the regular Nokia 8.1 – its screen measures 6.22”.

The Nokia 8.1 Plus or whatever HMD decides to name the Nokia phone with a display hole will of course be an Android One device.

If these renders of the alleged Nokia 8.1 Plus end up being accurate, HMD Global (along with many other smartphone OEMs) are going to be using this same technique for their phone.

Photography-wise, the Nokia 8.1 features a 1/.55-inch 1.4um 12MP sensor on its back that is also equipped with optical image stabilization and ZEISS optics alongside another 13MP sensor. The Nokia phone is also rendered with a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top and volume and power buttons on the right side of the frame.
