In mind, specifically, are those entities that support the BDS movement - short for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions - a movement that advocates an global boycott of Israel until the sovereign nation acquiesces to pro-Palestine, anti-Israel policies.

French demonstrators and supporters of Palestinians hold a placard with the word "Boycott" during a demonstration in Paris, France on October 31, 2012.

Rubio, along with Senator James Risch (R-Idaho), last week reintroduced pro-Israel legislation that did not get passed in the last Congress.

The Senate failed to reach the necessary 60 votes on Tuesday evening to end debate on Republican-introduced legislation that, if enacted, would impose fresh sanctions on Syria, as well as boost security cooperation with Israel and Jordan amid the announced gradual withdrawal of USA troops from Syria.

Some Republicans accused Democrats of supporting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement targeting Israel over its treatment of the Palestinians, which they see as anti-Semitic.

The act is part of a wider Middle East policy bill, the first to be introduced by Senate Republicans in the new Congress which began on January.

The American Civil Liberties Union has already challenged four state laws that attempted to punish BDS, and has won judgments.in Arizona and Kansas, with federal courts saying the laws ran afoul of the First Amendment. Other Democratic senators who supported the substance of the bill followed suit.

Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN), as well as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who refuses to answer regarding her personal position on BDS but supports others who support BDS. "This is the USA where boycotting is a right & part of our historical fight for freedom & equality", Tlaib said Monday. The Anti-Defamation League notes that BDS is a campaign to delegitimize Israel as the Jewish state and that the movement's founding goals "including denying the Jewish people the universal right of self-determination - along with numerous strategies employed in BDS campaigns are anti-Semitic". A Woodstock-style concert was canceled and some companies stopped offering services in the West Bank settlements. Congresswomen Talib and Omar - and the founders of the BDS movement - should also empathize with the "opposing" narrative and understand why Israel is, and must remain, a Jewish state. "In leading the charge against the anti-Semitic BDS movement, which demonizes and singles out the world's only Jewish state, it is making a strong statement about the movement's lies and hatred". That's going to set the stage for the new members to put their cards on the table in terms of support for Israel.

"I don't think it makes sense to say I am upset about the government shutdown [but then say] I don't know why we would also shut down the Senate", Rubio said. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) of lying about the bill by claiming that it bars Americans from their constitutional right to engage in political activity. Democrats must block consideration of any bills that don't reopen the government. "Maybe a refresher on our US Constitution is in order, then get back to opening up our government instead of taking our rights away", she tweeted. "We thank the U.S. lawmakers who are rejecting anti-Semitism and keeping the U.S. -Israel relationship strong and bipartisan".
