Jonathan Whitehead of beIN SPORTS, said: "We're delighted to welcome Jose Mourinho to beIN SPORTS and having him as part of our exclusive AFC Asian Cup 2019 and English Premier League coverage in MENA will be a special moment for our network".

It hasn't even been a month since Jose Mourinho was sacked at Manchester United, yet the Portuguese is already being linked with a return to management at the top level.

The pay-out leaves the 55-year-old Portuguese free to take up the permanent job in Madrid.

"Jose is able to take on another job right now, but is in no rush".

Their 2-0 home defeat by Real Sociedad on Sunday saw them slump to fifth in La Liga, 10 points behind leaders Barcelona.

United sacked Mourinho on December 18 following the club's disappointing first half of the season and multiple reports of issues between the manager and players including star midfielder Paul Pogba.

It was never going to be an easy season after both Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo left but Julen Lopetegui had a nightmare time before being replaced by Santiago Solari.

He said on the prospect of returning: "They are things that are said and I will not feed".

He has, reportedly, already rejected the opportunity to return to Benfica, the first club he managed. I don't really want to go there, but the best way to respect a great club [Benfica] and a great president is to say that I was not offered.

The Daily Mail reports that a source close to Mourinho - whose contract was due to run till the end of the 2019/20 campaign with the option of an extra season -revealed that compensation had been paid.

"He told them he was the manager of Manchester United and totally committed to the club".

Mourinho and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino are the front-runners for the job when Real do make a decision on Lopetegui's long-term successor, but the latter is not available at the moment and is likely to cost more than £40m to get out of his contract in north London.
