Liverpool went seven points clear at the top of the Premier League and bounced back from two successive defeats in all competitions after a Mohamed Salah penalty gave them a 1-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Xherdan Shaqiri, who got a rare start on the right flank in a reshuffled 4-2-3-1 formation, missed Liverpool's best chance in the opening half when he headed inches wide after Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross.

"We are fine. A season is always like this".

Hughton watched Liverpool, with nine changes and Dejan Lovren forced off injured early on, lose for the second match in succession at Wolves on Monday evening in the FA Cup after Manchester City ended their unbeaten league record.

"Joel trained yesterday first time with the team, which is really good, but we have to see", Klopp told a news conference on Friday.

'If you are a holding 6 or a centre-half with the ball it is easier'. Intriguingly, Henderson was pencilled in to to play centre-back alongside Fabinho in the FA Cup tie prior to his injury.

'I'm not sure, but we'll have to see'. "He is a fantastic person, he is physically strong and he has all the technical things you need".

Klopp, whose team are also out of the League Cup, conceded however that he does prefer to have the opportunity to train more with single game weeks. "That's my preferred rhythm, to be honest". "We have to decide day-by-day how he is doing. We speak in the week, but try to not make it more complicated than it is".

"So the owners want the Premier League and Champions League clearly".
