Gase will replace Todd Bowles, who was sacked by the Jets after four seasons following the end of the 2018 season.

The Dolphins went 23-25 during Gase's tenure.

McCarthy told NFL Network he has made a decision to sit out the upcoming season after the Jets hired Adam Gase.

Now he gets Darnold, a potential superstar quarterback for NY, and a front office that has a ton of salary cap space and should be enthused about throwing money at offensive pieces who work within Gase's system.

Dowell Loggains, Gase's offensive coordinator in Miami this season, is expected to join him in NY, according to multiple reports.

The Dolphins have interviewed Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.

Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington of ESPN first reported the news.

During this hiring season, the Dolphins have been the quietest among the eight teams that are or were looking for new head coaches.

The Jets finished the 2018 season 4-12 and last in the AFC East.

It seems it is time to start spreading the news that former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy wants to be a part of New York, New York. However, Rhule reportedly pulled out of contention for the job after being told he wouldn't be given control to hire his own assistants, per SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.
