Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul wouldn't even thought in their wildest of dreams that one Koffee with Karan show will ruin their career.

The legal unit also emphasised the need to appoint an ad hoc Ombudsman to probe the episode in which Pandya and Rahul made a few crass remarks about women in a TV show - Koffee with Karan anchored by Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar. I have to see how they move first, ' he said.

"Both Pandya and Rahul have been suspended pending an inquiry over their misogynist remarks in a TV chat show", the source said.

Following sexist views by Pandya and Rahul, on Thursday, a 2-ODI ban for Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul was recommended by Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai.

"In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments".

The announcement came hours before the start of the first one-day worldwide of a three-match series against Australia in Sydney.

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has distanced the team from the controversial comments.

"Taking into account the relevant rules of the BCCI and considering that the inquiry process against the concerned players has commenced and is pending, it is open for the COA to suspend the concerned players (along with their privileges and benefits) pending enquiry and proceeding into the charges of misconduct until final adjudication".

'From the Indian cricket team point of view, any inappropriate comments that are made in that scenario are something that we definitely don't support, ' he said. "Definitely it has to hit anyone hard, they will definitely understand the things that have not gone right".

Mitchell Marsh is ruled out through illness but the returning players are all set to start this match while pacemen Jason Behrendorff, Billy Stanlake and Jhye Richardson are vying for two places to spearhead the bowling attack against India as the Test men like Starc, Hazelwood and Cummins are all rested.

The 26-year-old has played 13 ODI's for India, with an average of 35.22 and a top score of 100 not out.

"You have to adjust with the situation", Kohli said. "And hence, we keep players who can provide balance with bat and ball as a backup anyway", he added.

"All these external factors are not going to derail our motivation or the preparation for the World Cup".

The Indian skipper finished third on the list of highest run-scorers in the Test series and will be eager to once again be among the runs in the one-day format. "We are pretty comfortable as a side and any combination that we go in with", he said.
