In a letter, released to the media, Pelosi wrote to Trump that the US Secret Service was designated as the lead federal agency responsible for coordinating, planning, exercising and implementing security for National Special Security Events by Public Law 106-544, December 19, 2000. "What it does is this: if Congress has not passed their appropriation bills on time and the government's going to shut down, the money keeps being spent, but at a one percent cut across the board for everything".

- Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., after a bipartisan group of legislators met with Trump at the White House.

Instead, at her overcrowded weekly press conference it was President Donald Trump that Pelosi excoriated for what she called the "Trump shutdown".

She reiterated how she wanted the presidential State of the Union address scheduled for January 29 postponed until the shutdown ends. In a statement issued to the Daily Caller Wednesday, Don Jr. said Pelosi is terrified his father will get another chance to speak unfiltered about the Democrat Party's obstruction.

The Brownsville church says it can't consent to its land being used for any form of border wall construction because the wall is "fundamentally inconsistent with Catholic values" and "would substantially burden the free exercise of religion" by limiting access to its 153-year old La Lomita Chapel.

Trump, however, is shying away from the national emergency declaration, wary of inevitable push-back by Republican members of Congress and setting a precedent his successors could use for political advantage.

"The buck always stops", Scott said when asked if the chief executive is responsible for keeping the government running, before trailing off and saying "everybody's responsible". That package did fund more than $5 billion for the border wall. Some Republicans expressed concerns over the impact of the shutdown and who was getting blamed.

While Pelosi's letter is framed as a request to find a new date, the decision of when to host the President is very much up to the speaker of the House.

"Once again, we call upon the president to reopen government", Pelosi said. "#EndTheShutdown", added Cardin, whose state neighbors Washington and is home to many federal workers.

"We know that a border wall system works", a Customs and Border Patrol official told reporters at a briefing Wednesday, his wording suggesting that a wall would not work by itself.

The House and Senate had previously voted overwhelmingly in favor of the act.

As the shutdown enters its fourth week, the White House revealed to The New York Times on Tuesday that the us economy is losing.13% economic growth per week. The Senate made a mistake in the 115th Congress by not voting on the package sent by the House Republicans.

The measure follows last week's introduction of a bill that would protect furloughed federal workers from landlords and creditors filing legal action against them for failing to pay their bills during the shutdown, reported the Huffington Post. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell said in her first floor speech on Wednesday night.

The negative impact on the USA economy, which the White House now says will be double its original projections, is already affecting places like Colorado, where craft breweries are awaiting government approval on beers.
