Chelsea players thought it was easy - Sarri

Sarri was also quizzed on the future of Willian, who has been linked with a January move to Barcelona.

The goal galvanised Newcastle and they ended the half on top, with Chelsea struggling to break them down - and there were even audible boos from the home crowd as Jorginho played the ball straight out of play early in the second period. To be fair we can not complain about what the players were doing on the pitch. Today we couldn't do that but we have the quality to do it in the next games.

The Brazil global curled home his first goal since Ocotber to seal a 2-1 win over Newcastle and send Chelsea six points clear of Arsenal in the race for fourth place ahead of next weekend's London derby at the Emirates. With Eden as a striker we need wingers so we need Pedro and Hudson-Odoi.

However, they were pegged back on 40 minutes as Newcastle took advantage of a good spell to make it 1-1 with Ciaran Clark heading home from a corner.

Callum Hudson-Odoi was brought off the bench for the final 10 minutes of the match in place of Pedro, having been left out of the starting lineup in one of three changes, but the Bayern Munich target could not help to kill off the match.

When asked about Willian's contract, he added: "Maybe he has 12 years of contract, I don't know the detail".

"The club knows very well my opinion, I need the player there (but) it depends on the club decision". "For us, he's fundamental".

Despite his side's victory, Sarri again bemoaned his side's mentality - a frequent complaint this season - for apparently being complacent after Pedro's opener.

Willian's superb goal restored the lead in the second half and was enough to give Sarri's side the points. We need to improve in the mental reaction because after the first goal something happened. But it was really very important to gain points today.

"[On Saturday] we scored after nine minutes, so the team thought it is very easy". We scored after nine minutes, so we did not have to face difficulty.
