The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg, a four-time host of The Academy Awards, said last month on the show that not having a formal host for the Oscars, is "dumb".

The Academy was reportedly enthusiastic about wanting their initial pick comedian Kevin Hart to return to the position. If the show is not very good, even the host will not save him.

"I want everybody to know I'm done with it", Hart told "GMA" co-host Michael Strahan.

Earlier, Kevin Hart stepped down from hosting the ceremony after some old homophobic tweets resurfaced online.

A day later, Hart announced he was formally turning down the hosting gig.

The Academy Awards, this year will adapt a new format, with producers set to delegate the role of emcee to a selection of A-listers who will introduce various segments.

"I watch the Oscars to find out who's winning and to see my favourite directors and actors onscreen", Bailey said.

According to the Hollywood trade, the Academy is booking as much of the cast as possible, though it hasn't been reported whether the Avengers castmembers in question would appear individually or as a group. The last time it happened was in 1989, when it opened with an infamous musical number starring Rob Lowe and an actress playing Disney's Snow White.

The 91st Oscars® will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network.
