The game is set to follow the events of the shows highly anticipated season 3.

The forthcoming new season of Stranger Things will be accompanied by its own mobile game.

The Duffer Brothers, the creators of the hit on-demand series, presented the trailer, which features bits and pieces of what we can expect from the game. The charming 16-bit format and simple gameplay (shoot and/or hack Demadogs and random butch guards!) is a ideal nostalgic tie-in for the '80s-set Netflix series. It's a little shocking to see child characters in the trailer kill countless guards in cold blood, but it's all in service of that old school gameplay.

It appears to be a beat-em-up game in the vein of the popular games of the genre from the 16-bit era, with some light puzzle elements as well based on what we were able to glean from the short trailer.

As for release, it's coming sometime next year. In the meantime, be sure to check out the original Stranger Things 16-bit game that's now available on all mobile devices and was also developed by Bonus XP, whose remarkable work clearly nabbed them this gig.

Netflix said it will be coming to all platforms, but there seems to be no date announced for its release just yet.
