Singer Mika Singh Detained in UAE On Charges Of Harassing Woman

The singer had lodged a counter-complaint alleging extortion.

Singer Mika Singh, who was detained by authorities in the UAE on Thursday after a 17-year-old Brazilian girl filed a complaint against him for allegedly harassing her, was released late last night.

The Indian Consulate has not been contacted yet by Dubai police officials or Mika's team. The arrest took place at 3 am in the morning from a bar located at Bur Dubai and was then taken to Abu Dhabi jail.

The singer was in Dubai to perform at Masala Awards ceremony held at Fort Island, Madinat Jumeirah on Tuesday. It has been reported that several friends of his have been trying to release the singer from jail.

Going by the reports in Republic TV, Mika has been arrested by Dubai Police for alleged sexual misconduct. "See you tonight!" he wrote in the caption, according to ANI.

Singh is one of the most controversial singers. He will be produced before a UAE court today, Indian ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri said.

Known for Bollywood songs like, Subah Hone Na De, Hard Hard, Milenge Milenge, Bas Ek King among others has over four million followers on the micro-blogging platform.

On the work front, Mika Singh is all set to unveil his Punjabi track.
