Talk of the upcoming season of Game of Thrones (and a possible prequel) has been circling the web for some time now and after the premiere date was revealed last month, fans now have a teaser to hold themselves over until the full season or trailer arrives.

A short, under 40 second teaser, gives a feel of what to expect-the clash of ice and fire in the final season of the show.

The video shows the Painted Table at Dragonstone - the large carved wooden map of Westeros that Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) has consulted since returning home - being consumed by ice and fire. The perspective then shifts and we see flames engulf the south. But the teaser also clearly aligns the Wolf and Dragon (Houses Stark and Targaryen) - with ice, and the Lion (House Lannistetr) with fire.

There's clearly a lot to look forward to for the eighth season that arrives April 2019. "They've really done a tremendous job in servicing the drama and the characters and so forth, and there are many ups and downs and twists and turns all across the "Game of Thrones" society and the world they are", he added.

Game of Thrones season 7 ended with the Night King breaking down The Wall by melting it with the dragon's fire.

Again, per VF: "In the show's pilot episode, the White Walkers clearly communicate in "inhuman shrieks" and 'a chilling sound like crackling ice, ' which echoes George R.R. Martin's description of their language in his books".
