Friends has been on Netflix since January 1, 2005. And Netflix's chief content officer himself has gone on the record about the matter, with Ted Sarandos telling The Hollywood Reporter that Friends' "departure is a rumor". Hope everybody enjoyed the four years of Friends on Netflix!

Netflix first bowed all 10 seasons of "Friends", encompassing all 236 episodes of the show, to subscribers in the US and Canada in January 2015, under a deal with Warner Bros.

As THR notes, Friends made its streaming debut back in 2015 with its arrival on Netflix, to much fanfare.

UPDATE 6:10 P.M. ET: The official Netflix Twitter account has confirmed that Friends will continue to reside on the streaming side through the rest of 2019."The Holiday Armadillo has granted your wish: "Friends" will still be there for you in the United States throughout 2019", Netflix wrote. If you're a fan, New Year's Eve will be the last day you can binge-watch "Friends", until it eventually lands on another streaming service.

As many know, the show follows three men and women who start off as best friends (while some end up dating) as they all deal with the trials and tribulations of finding a job, maintaining a relationship and more in New York City.

The Warner Bros. Television series will likely be included on AT&T's upcoming service, which is expected to launch in 2019. But it came with a lofty price tag: Netflix shelled out $118 million (pennies for the service today) for the streaming rights and to digitally remaster every single episode for HD streaming capabilities.

However, it may not be all smooth sailing for the Friends Netflix rights in the future.
