Brady jokes he’s retiring to stay at 1,000 rushing yards

Grier completed 67 percent of his passes for 3,864 yards, 37 touchdown passes and eight interceptions in 11 games for the Mountaineers this season.

The Patriots' official Twitter account had some fun in noting Brady's "milestone", as he needed 5 yards entering the game.

Running back James White topped the receiving table with seven receptions and 92 yards, Josh Gordon was unearthed in the second half and responded by catching all three passes to come his way for 58 yards and a TD, and fellow receiver Cordarrelle Patterson had receptions of 29 and 24 yards.

"Run Tommy, run", Brady captioned the action shot, followed by a picture from immediately after the milestone play: "The end zone is that way!"

"Obviously, I'm not a scrambler". But hopefully I can make a couple plays.

Their next post, however, noted that the previous high for games needed for a quarterback to reach 1,000 rushing yards was the 161 of former Giants great Y.A. Tittle - who in fact finished his career with just 999.

Richardson said playing from behind all game was one reason.

Bill Belichick couldn't wait to heap effusive praise on Brady for the hard-earned benchmark. If he starts throwing every pass out of bounds at that point we'll know he's really serious about this round number thing. "That's it. I'm out. Got to get back to work", he said.

Van Noy was a tad incorrect, as Thielen hauled in five catches for 28 yards and a touchdown Sunday night.
