You'll Get A Bit Teary-Eyed Watching The #EltonJohnLewis Christmas Ad

There are few things that mark the beginning of the festive season like the John Lewis Christmas ad.

The emotional two-minute video tracks John's road to stardom-from playing in pubs to sold out stadium shows.

Yes - as per the John Lewis website, there are some varieties of pianos and keyboards available to purchase from the department store.

The advert begins and ends with John playing "Your Song" in what is supposed to be his living room.

"The John Lewis Christmas campaign has so many warm memories for me and my family", the music star said.

Fans of the new John Lewis ad included former MP and Strictly Come Dancing star Ed Balls, who said it was "totally brilliant", and TV presenter Susanna Reid who responded: "Absolutely love it".

The song choice was also criticised, with one user saying the retail company should have opted for Sir Elton's Step Into Christmas instead.

It's the ideal mix of story and celebrity, and while not official, also a pretty damned good promo for Rocketman, the upcoming Elton John biopic hitting theaters next summer.

However, a John Lewis Partnership press release appeared to refute this cost.

So we're still waiting for the actual ad, which will no doubt include buckets of emotion and some not-at-all-cynical plugs for merchandise to soothe the feels.

The ad plays out as a homage to Elton John as we see his life's highlights in reverse, way back to when he gets his first piano for Christmas as a young boy.
