Should you buy the OnePlus 6T?

Given the company's semiannual release cycle, the OnePlus 6T isn't really meant for OnePlus 6 users, and some of the 6T's newer features like Nightscape are even being made available for older devices.

Following the images that surfaced earlier today, OnePlus has just announced a new variant of the OnePlus 6T, the so-called OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple model. Hopefully, the device will appear elsewhere in the world, but if it does, it will likely keep the $579/€579 tag like the Mirror Black and Midnight Black 8/128 GB variants. It's certainly more eye-catching than the other color options for the OnePlus 6T right now, offering a gradient color scheme with black at the top, which gradually blends into the purple shade.

The launch of OnePlus 6T marked several firsts for the Chinese smartphone maker - first phone to get carrier support in the USA, first with an in-display fingerprint scanner, first without 3.5mm headphone jack and indeed the first phone with the highest price tag. It's only available in China right now, but hopefully that availability expands at some point in the future. The device also comes with dual cameras, although the secondary doesn't do much.

T-Mobile's Times Square store during the OnePlus 6T launch. OnePlus was an exception with the 6T, following the Henry Ford mantra of "any colour, as long as it's black". Unfortunately, there's no news on whether the colour variant will be coming to our shores.
