When Meghan Markle rings in her first Christmas at the royal family's Sandringham House at Norfolk this year, she could have a very special family member by her side: her mother.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's first holiday as a married couple is sure to be a memorable one. Holiday festivities are an event that few outside the royals' inner circle have the privilege of participating in.

"It's a mark of the Queen's respect for Meghan and an acknowledgment that she doesn't have any other relations in this country-unlike Kate who has the support of a very close family", claims a source who spoke to the Daily Express.

The source is reported to have said that the Queen's invitation showed respect and acknowledged that Meghan would be spending Christmas away from family in Britain.

Just days ago, Meghan Markle delivered a powerful speech about women's suffrage, and many are speculating whether the U.S. citizen practiced what she preached on Election Day Tuesday.

In previous years the Middletons in fact have managed to join the Royals for church in the morning, but they were always based at Kate and William's Anmer Hall home rather than on the royal estate, and certainly wouldn't be given any turkey by her maj.

Royal reporters who have followed Meghan's two-year journey from Harry's girlfriend to fully minted royal member say the Queen was immediately taken with her and believes she is a wonderful match for Harry.

As Harry shared in their November engagement interview, "I'd been seeing her for a period of time when I literally didn't tell anybody at all". "The royal family have fully welcomed Meghan into the fold". Why, you ask? Here are 12 more times the royal family has broken their own protocol.
