Now the official Twitter handle of Sun Pictures has tweeted that the police arrived at AR Murugadoss' residence to arrest him, but left after enquiring about him since he was not there.

Murugadoss had moved the court seeking anticipatory bail against any possible arrest. Claiming that addressing and highlighting social views in a movie are guaranteed under Article 19 (1) (a) of the Constitution, the petitioner said his act by any stretch of imagination would not amount to an offence as alleged by the prosecution.

He "strongly condemned" the demands for deletion of scenes.

The latest outing of AR Murugadoss titled Sarkar created a stir across the political circles of Tamil Nadu.

In the petition filed, Murugadoss stated that despite the backlash the film has been receiving from members of the AIADMK, his intention was never to hurt anyone. "It was further alleged that the movie also criticised various government welfare policies (freebees) and there by inciting the people of Tamil Nadu to rebel against the government". Many of whom even indulged in damaging the banners and cutouts of Vijay which was placed outside cinema halls.

Since the release of the film, many AIADMK ministers and party cadres have expressed their displeasure about certain scenes in the "Sarkar". They also showed the willingness to "mute" a reference to Jayalalithaa.

In what could be considered as a shot in the arm for the Sarkar team, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has come in support of Sarkar, while slamming the unlawful activity carried out by politicians from the ruling AIADMK against the Tamil flick. He questioned the rationale behind protesting against a film certified by the Censor Board.
